It received a five-star crash test rating – the highest possible – the first time it was tested. Most crates require multiple tests to receive a rating, but our aluminum dog crate's toughness and durability were apparent enough after one test to not require follow-up testing. All external features connect directly into the frame giving your crate extra support where needed most. Can I switch the direction of the door?
Yes! Our crate doors normally open from right to left. However, if you request it, we can switch the direction it opens. Contact us with your specific needs and we’ll customize your crate to suit you and your dog.
Do you offer custom crate sizes?
The aluminum skins we use to build our crates are specifically designed for our listed crate sizes. As a result, we are unable to make custom sizes. We have a list of awesome people who make custom sized dog crates/kennels. Reach out to us and we’d be happy to share their contact information.
Can I take a Rock Creek Crate on a commercial airline flight?
The stationary crate can become airline compliant with the IATA kit, which can be found on our Accessories page. Each airline has specific requirements for flying with pet cargo; we highly recommend contacting your chosen airline in advance.
Are your crates crash tested?
We worked with the Center for Pet Safety when designing the newest version of our stationary crate. Our stationary crates have been crash tested and will receive their official report from the Center for Pet Safety in early 2021.

"Our family has 2, 70lb German Shepherds and we have had our fair share of travel and house crates. We loved our original travel crate, but it was relatively bulky and we could never fit 2 in our SUV at the same time. Since our purchase was intended as a travel crate, we opted for something comfortable, but with a snugger/safer fit. We ordered the 36” stationary crate and it’s perfect! One of our girls fits comfortably inside, but it also lacks the extra “bulk” a lot of crates have and fits seamlessly in all of our vehicles. It’s super durable with some weight to it, but again, without being overly bulky. We also opted to add a second door to the rear of the crate so we can access our girls form the back trunk area, or inside of the car. We couldn’t be more satisfied and excited with this purchase."

"Rock Creek Crates are fantastic! I am an agility competitor, coming out of the MimSafe VarioCage, due to size issues. My dogs and I are loving the RCC crates. They are extremely well built, super quiet (no rattles!), and fit all of the accessories I want. The service and fabrication teams were very helpful through the purchase process. They patiently worked with me to ensure I could fit a 36" and 30" standard in a 2022 Subaru Ascent (with only the 3rd row seats down), and were proactively communicative throughout the process. "These crates are rock solid. I drive on a busy canyon highway with trucks all year long with my dog. This crate gives my dog a chance at curving a crash. Rock Creek is serious about safety and crash testing. You can see this by the quality of their build with the closures and the seams of the crate. They are nice people as well. I drove to their facility and placed the crates in my car to be sure they fit and bought colors they could sell me to take home that day. I have people ask me about the crates a lot because the dogs jump right in and are happy in them. They feel cozy and safe. They are an investment but they last. "This is my second crate. It is not the same quality as the first crate. The metal isn't the same and it doesn't have the little rubber noise dampener on the latch. It seems cheaply made compared to my first crate and the crates are the same model. Other than that, I do like the crates."
